How much sand does a sandpit need?
Sand is not included in the delivery, so use clean washed play sand. The amount depends on the depth of the sand and the inner size of the sandpit, and the wooden sandpit page works out the exact volume in litres and in bags.
Is the sandpit safe for children?
Yes. The sandpit is made of solid larch, 60 mm thick, with no chemical treatment, so children do not come into contact with wood preservatives. The blocks form a heavy, stable frame with a wide seating edge, and there are no metal joints within children's reach. As with any outdoor play, we recommend adult supervision.
What should I put under the sand in a sandpit?
Lay geotextile on the bottom. It separates the sand from the soil, stops weeds growing through, and rainwater drains through it. Place the sandpit on a level spot, ideally in partial shade, and you can cover it with a tarpaulin overnight against leaves and animals.
