How much sand for the sandpit
Sand volume = inner area × layer depth. Inside is 1.08 × 1.08 m, so every centimetre of sand equals 12 l. The frame is 18 cm high, so plan a sand layer of at most 15 cm to keep the sand below the edge.
| Sand depth | Volume | m³ |
|---|---|---|
| 10 cm | 117 l | 0.12 |
| 12 cm | 140 l | 0.14 |
| 15 cm | 175 l | 0.17 |
Sand is sold in bags by weight and loose by the m³. You'll find how much a litre weighs on the packaging.

What to put under the sand
Lay a permeable geotextile on the bottom. Water drains through it and the sand won't mix with the soil. Geotextile and sand aren't included in the package.
Seat and safety
The wide top edge works as a bench for parents and a spot for kids to put down toys. The parts snap together, so there are no sharp metal joints within a child's reach. The larch 60 mm has no chemical treatment.
When the kids grow up
You can turn the sandpit into a raised bed: swap the sand for soil. You'll design a different size in Studio from the same parts.
