How we calculate

Drip hose rows run along the longer side of the bed, the first row sits close to the frame and the row spacing depends on the soil. Beds are grouped into zones by the flow of your water source. The rules come from the irrigation register in Studio, which relies on manufacturer tables (Rain Bird, Hunter).

What is an assumption

  • You enter the source flow. A zone draws at most 70 % of it.
  • Hose reserve of 10 % for bends and trimming.
  • Between beds we count 1 ft 11⅝ in of pipe and 2 connections per row.
  • We do not measure water pressure. For a well and a lawn this is a rough estimate.
  • We show no prices. We do not sell irrigation.

What the web calculates and what Studio does

Irrigation questions

How many zones do I need?

Beds are grouped so that a zone never draws more than your water source can supply. A small garden usually needs one drip zone. A lawn with sprinklers adds more, because it runs separately.

Why can sprinklers and drip hose not share a zone?

They need a different pressure and a different flow. Drip hose needs low pressure from a regulator, sprinklers need more. So each type gets its own zone.

Is the result exact?

It is an estimate for shopping. For a well and a lawn it is rough. Studio checks the exact layout, pressure and flow.

Do you sell irrigation too?

No. We sell Brick Premium raised garden beds. You can buy irrigation in any garden shop.
