How to Assemble Your Garden Bed
Simple step-by-step instructions for building your GridGarden raised bed. No special tools required.
Assembly Made Simple
Our Brick Premium system is designed for easy assembly. Simply stack the wooden blocks like building blocks and tap them into place. Most beds can be assembled in under an hour.
What You Need
Step-by-Step Assembly
Follow these simple steps to assemble your raised garden bed.
Prepare the Area
Choose a level spot for your garden bed with good drainage and adequate sunlight for your plants. Clear any debris and mark out the dimensions of your bed.
Most vegetables need 6-8 hours of direct sunlight. Place your bed accordingly.
Follow Your Assembly PDF
Each order includes a custom PDF guide showing the exact layout and order of your blocks, layer by layer, with precise dimensions. Print it out and follow it during assembly - it shows exactly which block goes where. Available for download and included with your delivery.
Keep the PDF handy during assembly. It's your roadmap to a perfect build.
Lay First Rows & Anchor
Don't lay out the entire first layer at once. Work progressively: place a few blocks of the first row, then immediately place the second row on top behind them. Anchor each block of the bottom layer through any hole - hammer the anchor all the way down, sinking it flush with the hole depth. Only the bottom layer needs anchoring. Once the first two rows are stable and level, continue building layer by layer.
A level helps, but even better: stretch a string between two stakes at the exact height where you want the bed. This gives you a perfect reference line to build against.
Stack Additional Rows
Stack each subsequent row on top, offsetting the joints like brickwork for stability. The holes and pegs lock each row securely in place.
Your order includes a custom PDF guide showing exactly which block goes where.
Add Protective Liner (Recommended)
Protect your bed with a protective liner. Two methods: (A) Nail method - attach the liner around the inner perimeter using small nails. (B) Peg method (for taller beds) - before placing the last layer, position the liner and make holes where the pegs connect layers. The pegs will hook the liner between the last and second-to-last row, securing it elegantly.
Peg method is faster and looks cleaner, but leaves the top row unprotected. Nail method protects all layers but takes more time.
Fill and Plant
Fill your bed with quality garden soil and compost. You're ready to plant! The raised design provides excellent drainage and makes gardening easier on your back.
Use a mix of 60% topsoil, 30% compost, and 10% perlite for best results.
